The Eye of the World: Book One of The Wheel of Time
Only Bornhald captures Perrin, Valda chases El to Tar Valon and recruits Galad.
Eamon Valda was not in the Eye of the World, except maybe a mention. It was Jaret Byar that was the Whitecloak( but I imagine they are probably combining characters
Valda is commanding the Whitecloaks that were opposing Logain when the Tower captured him. Valda followed the Aes Sedai to Caemlyn, where Geofram was supposed to meet up with Valda. At this point I’m 100% certain we are getting to see Logain’s capture and meet a bunch of characters early.
EDIT:
And with no Dain and no Min having been announced, it looks like we aren’t going to Baerlon. We’ll go right from Winternight into the wilderness, then Shadar Logoth for the back half of Episode 2 and the beginning of Episode 3. That makes sense if we’re going to be getting a bunch of political stuff from around Randland seeded throughout the first season. I bet the number of towns visited on the Road to Caemlyn will be drastically cut as well. Maybe to just Whitebridge and Four Kings.
Anthony – I believe I saw that the Grinwell mother was cast, so we could well see the stop at their farmhouse in addition to the towns on road to Camelyn.
I’m glad things are still moving, at any rate.
Where’s Min?
RobM@@.-@:
I saw that as well. Maybe they’ll use the Grinwell farm as the last stop, and MasterGrinwell rides them in to town.
Since the are using the Grinwell’s, I bet it means Else will make her way to the Tower, still
I strongly suspect they will combine Else and Min. Else goes to Tar Valon because of Rand (he told her he is going there), then she rejected and vanishes from the story, except for brief moment that Lanfear impersonates her. So other than being the only place where Rand/Mat could spend peaceful night during their harrowing flight to Caemlin, Grinwell farm serves no other purpose. Neither does Baerlon. It’s only there because Eye of the World is based on the Lord of the Ring with similar story flow. Hounded from home by dark forces, brief interlude in small town/inn ,which is interrupted by Nazgul/Myrdraal attack, pursued again by superior force. Baerlon is the WOT equivalent of Bree, and there to introduce Min. ALL other characters introduced in Baerlon do not appear again.

Mostly right, except we also met Dain Bornhald in Baerlon. And had the first encounter with beggar Fain.
I’m hoping that no Min has been announced yet because she’s so awesome that she’s hard to cast.
I think they are going to combine Valda and child Byar. These two are never really active at the same time in the story.
Byar’s arc is Zealot Underling to Bornhald Sr. To Zealot Underling to Bornhald Jr. Then Zealot Underling to Galad then to dude without and voice lines under Perrin.
Valda’s arc is Sir-Not-Appearing-In-This-Book all the way up to Disgruntled General to Evil Coup and finally Evil Leader Who Dies.
It would make sense to combine these into one person. Have Valda be the zealot under the Bornhalds then have have him pull his coup later.
Simpol @10. Combining Valda and Byar is possible. It would require that you change Graendal’s super-secret agent who tries to kill Perrin — and have Dain save Perrin.
I suppose it would work with any other nameless Whitecloak {As an aside, I have no idea how Graendal compelled Byar to try to kill Perrin. I guess she did it via Byar’s dreams; the same way Graendal corrupted the 4 Great Captain’s minds during the Last Battle.
Graendal could also have used a Two Rivers person to try to kill Dain. He could then kill said Two Rivers person. Perhaps a named Two Rivers person who was with Perrin from almost the beginning (for example, Wil or Ban al’Seen).
Thanks for reading my musings.

Ugh, no leads on who’s playing Min!?
Have you cast any beautiful African American women. This is a new day and age. They can be portrayed with super abilities too..The times need to change to represent those you hope will want to watch it.
@Carless Joyner there’ve been a lot of non-caucasian leads and support in the cast so far. The world will open up even more as the series progresses. The two most powerful rulers in this world have beautiful cobalt skin. Wait till you meet the Seanchan.
I meant obsidian skin, not cobalt.
@9:
That doesn’t make sense to me, because we know they’ve already shot the first six episodes of an eight episode season, per an interview with Rosamund Pike. Min would have to be in the second or third episodes, meaning she would have already completed her scenes for The Eye of the World, if they’re doing anything close to the books. I’m guessing there will be no Min in Season One, and she will be at the Tower already when Egwene arrives.
I’m still in the camp that The Eye of the World visitation will happen in Episode 5, and the season will end with Egwene being captured by the Seanchan. That would make Episode 6 (titled The Flame of Tar Valon) Siuan visiting Fal Dara, and the theft of the Horn. Episode 7 would be the girls arriving in Tar Valon, Nynaeve’s testing, etc, cut with Rand, Mat and Co chasing after the horn (in a very abbreviated sequence), And Episode 8 would be more of the chase, probably with ending with Rand getting stuck int eh Portal World, and then the season ends with Liandrin leading Egwene to her capture.
Yes, I think that is the breakneck pace this will go at.
And I really hope the information from Pike is wrong, at least regarding the episode count. Although…if you take that information with the expected budget numbers we’ve seen based on the tax credits the production got… Wow, that’s a lot of dough for 8 episodes. It would be in line with the final season of Game of Thrones.
No Elayne or Aviendha?
I have been following several YouTube channels but one in particular (#Nae’Blis) has a LOT of good information regarding the series and Q & A’s with Rafe and the cast. Rafe stated unequivocally that Min WILL be as she is in the books and not combined with someone else. Why anyone would think they’d combine such an important character is beyond me, but as for when she appears that is certainly unknown at this point. Although, by those same Q & A’s, Baerlon is supposedly going to be included as well, so there’s that. The journey on the Caemlyn road will be shortened to show only a few stops (the most important ones). And Season 1 may only be book one. There are only 8 episodes and apparently will be the same for season 2, with each having a $10 million budget and lasting about an hour. I really recommend checking out the channel I listed as the guy has some seriously good info. His titles are a little clickbaitey, but nonetheless he is full of interesting info to ponder about the show. Hope this helps!!
@18:
$10M per episode seems low, given that we know for a fact that the Czech Republic is giving the production a $75M rebate for money spent in 2019. That means the production spent $75M IN the Czech Republic ON goods and services, including the hiring of Czech citizens for the production crew and cast.
That $75M does NOT include Special FX companies that aren’t Czech-based, the salaries of the main cast, marketing costs, other post-production costs, etc. So that $10M number per episode is likely very, very low.
