Would you like to watch a gorgeous and elegant four-minute animated video depicting the tales of the beloved Murderbot? You would. Or at least you certainly should: this animatic, set to Tegan and Sara’s “I’m Not Your Hero,” is enough to make any fan of Martha Wells’ Murderbot Diaries yearn for a whole animated Murderbot series.
It also contains spoilers for the books up through Network Effect, so proceed with caution!
There’s so much love and care put into this art—and several months worth of work, too. We’re not the only ones excited about the result! Martha Wells is also enthused:

If you need more Murderbot-related content to tide you over until the April 2021 release of Fugitive Telemetry, might we suggest TV recommendations for Murderbot? The time Murderbot and ART talked to Instagram? A reminder that Murderbot is one of the greatest science fiction robots of all time (using the term “robot” loosely)?
Or you could just keep watching this video until it becomes impossible to get the song out of your head. (We have no idea what that’s like. None whatsoever.)
You can see more of creator Mar’s outstanding animation here, and if you’ve somehow not read Murderbot’s stories yet, you can start reading All Systems Red with an excerpt right here.

Fugitive Telemetry
Oh this is wonderful!!!!
And I’d say only sudo-spoilers. If you have read the books, some things stand out at “Oh that scene!!!” but without the context of the books, more like random images.
I’d love to see Murderbot adapted to screen. Seems a better fit than some longer works.
Ideal, especially as the genre has gained emotional intelligence to add to CGI. It would be a worthy successor to Expanse or Old Guard and Altered carbon canons. With proper attitude and a black panther addition to the lives matter discussions. Love does not have boundaries.
Now I have to reread the series. Again.
wow! that was amazing. I need more murderbot in my life.
Adorable!
Just over tiny year in my right eye, and a warm feeling in my chest as I watched this. Perfect choice of music and the best Murderbot drawings I’ve seen yet. Thank you Mar. I can never do enough to show my appreciation for fan artists. You donate so much love and effort to fellow anonymous fans.
I love this, and yes I may have put it on a loop. The song fit so perfectly I never thought for a minute that it hadn’t been made for the video, but on closer reading, I’ve now added Tegan and Sara to my Spotify. And of course, I’m really looking forward to Fugitive Telemetry next year. Well, actually, I just can’t wait for next year.
This is perfection! Thank you!
