We’re one step closer to an actual release date: At today’s Comic-Con@Home panel, Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins revealed the series will debut in November. So mark your whole November calendar, I guess? Just write WHEEL OF TIME over the whole thing.
Amazon also released a first poster for the series, showing Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) standing in a Waygate.
Here is the poster revealed at the panel!

The Wheel of Time, based on Robert Jordan’s fourteen-novel series, has already been renewed for a second season, though we’ve not seen so much as a trailer for season one. Okay, we’ve seen a lot of peeks: a glimpse of Daniel Henney as al’Lan Mandragoran; five seconds of Pike as Moiraine; Mat’s dagger, the Heron Blade, a snippet of the score, and a look at the set. But that doesn’t add up to a lot. Judkins has said that a trailer is coming “by the end of the summer,” so within a month and change we should have a lot more to talk about.
This adaptation has been in the works since 2017; like so many things, it was delayed by the pandemic. The first season will be eight episodes, and most—though not all!—of those titles have been revealed. The show’s sprawling cast includes Josha Stradowski (playing Rand al’Thor); Marcus Rutherford (Perrin Aybara); Barney Harris (Matrim Cauthon); Zoë Robins (Nynaeve al’Meara); Madeleine Madden (Egwene al’Vere); Alexandre Willaume (Thom Merrilin); Hammed Animashaun (Loial); and many, many more.

It’s actually happening!!! =D
Also…hate to be “that guy”, but that certainly doesn’t look like any Waygate I ever imagined..
(Oh wait, just realized this show is going to be doing a lot of that to my imaginations…!!)
I love this poster, but that doesn’t strike me as a Waygate. I am fully prepared to abandon all expectations for this one.
I’m really excited for this.
Do we have any idea on rating? WoT definitely doesn’t have as mush sex and violence as GoT, but depending on the directors creative intent they could make it GoT-ish. For example, the Seanchan servants who wear sheer clothing could be done without actually showing nudity or it could be done showing it all. I really hope they don’t though.
Is that a waygate? Looks more like a big window with the sun rising in it.
I would never have said that was a Waygate…I pictured them more like an arch or a doorway.
I’m so excited and nervous! I can’t wait for a trailer.
@1 Is that supposed to be a Waygate or just…generic ruins? I hope it’s not!
“Like, this really is a true adaptation of the series, so there will be a lot of things that are different than the books certainly, but I think it stays true to the heart of the books and the spine of the storytelling.” – Rafe Judkins
I’m getting Legend of the Seeker vibes from this quote. I’m still optimistic for a well done and entertaining show, but I’m trying to set my expectations low for how closely it follows even just the overall plot of the books much less many of the specific details.
@1 – Yeah there’s a reason I could never bring myself to stay in the Wheel of Time panels at Dragon con. The first time someone “mispronounced” a name I noped out and couldn’t go back. This show is about to break some hearts more than the the time I thought listening to the audiobook would be a good idea for like 20 minutes.
That said, while yeah I expected the waygates to be more… “stone forest”-y, I’m okay with this. See I’m adapting already. Heck by November I might be mentally prepared and ready.
An eight episode season? So if true to the books that means at least 2-3 devoted entirely to a narrator describing the clothes the characters are wearing?
I hope it’s a faithful adaptation.
@9, and braid tugging and arm crossing. Gotta get an episode just of that.
RE; Waygate. The title text of the image (for people using screen readers) says it’s a Waygate. Specifically. I believe we are looking at it from inside the Ways. I don’t think it will look this way from the outside, but since we don’t even know if the party is headed to Caemlyn in Season One, there may be no production reason not to make it a bigger, more impressive structure. It is, after all, sized for Ogier, and humans on horseback can ride through it. So it’s definitely taller than a single story.
@7, I agree – I’m getting that as well as The Shannara Chronicles vibes. I sadly don’t have high hopes for this being good at all. Hope I’m wrong.
Really excited! To be nit-picky, kind of annoyed by the repeating pattern in the stone of the waygate. I have the same problem with people’s ceramic tile in their house, but I cant imagine this stone was fabricated in a warehouse.
