Does your backyard look a little empty these days? Have you been staring vacantly at the sun, trying to think of a fun family/friend project for everyone to get excited over? Do you have access to a 3D printer?

Then clearly, your next project should be building a Stargate.

The awesome employees of Belgium’s Musée royal de Mariemont partnered with Vigo Universal’s 3D-printing studio in order to build a full-sized replica of the famed Stargate for an exhibition titled “From Stargate to Comics: The Egyptian Gods in the geek culture.” According to Hermanns Christophe, the CEO of Vigo, the greatest difficulty was that there were no plans available to work from–the entire gate had to be designed from scratch, using photos and film for reference.

To see the gate-building process, check out this sweet video, detailing all the hard work and love that went into its creation:

This seems like a totally worthy enterprise. I approve.

Sounds good, but how do I print Richard Dean Anderson?

Beats me why the producers/rights holders don’t try to monetize their properties by selling official blueprints and specs, at least once the show is over.  Maybe not enough market, or want to avoid an Axanar situation.

There are no downlodable plans on how to print Richard Dean Anderson. You’ll just have to MacGyver it.
