Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first trailer for the new Mystery Science Theater 3000! It’s just as fun and wacky as one would expect: we get to see how new host Jonah Heston ends up ensnared in MST3K shenanigans, we meet new Mad Scientists Kinga Forrester and TV’s Son of TV’s Frank (Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt, respectively), and maybe most exciting of all, we get a brief glimpse of one of this season’s upcoming movies!

And it looks terrible. Click through for Jonah and the Bots!

It’s wonderful to hear Crow again…even if it is yet another new voice. MST3K comes to Netflix on April 14th!

Just to show how many more of these kinds of movies I’ve seen than is strictly good for the average human’s mental and emotional health, I can identify at least two of the films: Reptilicus and The Time Travelers, the latter of which is almost the Aristotelian ideal of a perfect MST3k movie.

By the way, the new host is Jonah Ray; Jonah Heston is evidently his character name, like how Joel Hodgson played Joel Robinson and Michael T. Nelson played… err… Mike Nelson. I guess Joel went with Robinson because he was, err, lost in space, and Mike Nelson was Lloyd Bridges’s character in the oft-referenced Sea Hunt TV series (“By this time, my lungs were aching for air”). The “Heston” is no doubt a Planet of the Apes nod.

I miss the Satellite of Love, but I guess Moon 13 is a nod to Moon Zero Two.

I’m going to take this opportunity to be slightly alarmed that apparently both Dr. Forrester and TV’s Frank have bred. ;D

(Maybe Kinga and TV’s Son are clones?)

Seems very white out in the black.
