wow. just wow.
i don’t get hbo, but i’m going to have to figure out a way to watch this when april comes around, because i certainly won’t be able to wait for it to go to dvd.
Can’t wait!
Not interested.
April has never seemed so far away. But at least I have time to re-read the books.
Honestly, I was blown away by the footage. The production values appear to be top-notch and the cast looks great. I ‘ve been excited about Bean and Dinklage since they were first cast, but after seeing the footage, I think I’m actually most excited about Aidan Gillen as Littlefinger. I’ve always loved the magnificent manipulative sleazebag, and it looks like Gillen will even better than I previously though.
Interesting that they’re going to follow the Targaryan (sp?) story line – I’ve been reading these books for 10 years and that story arc still hasn’t joined up with the main one. I would have expected them to ditch it completely and then spend an entire season filling it back in if this show actually makes it 5 or 6 seasons
Looks stunning, but I wish this video were Quicktime or something that would stream properly, instead of whatever this rubbish is that has to stop and buffer every 15 seconds and is so framey when its plays it’s more like a slideshow.
Could someone just tell me GRRM is finishing the damn series, so that there will at least be a chance for all the seasons to be made?
I am dying to see this, but GRRM is just frustrating as hell.
@AYO1: The success of this screening may force Martin to finish his series by 2015-2016.
I just cant wait for the series to premiere… Here is the youtube video to Game of Thrones 10 minutes video… It loads a bit faster :)
Is there any word of when/if this is going to get the UK?
Seeing these previews has made me want to start the books again, I got through the first one, but didn’t finnish the second for reasons I can’t remember, probably just cos it wasn’t WoT.
Man, that man who plays Jaime… ooh, such a man.
Yes, please.
Sky has bought all the rights to HBO shows in UK so we should get it pretty much straight away after it airs in the US. I dont think they have posted a date yet but they name the show as one they will be airing in their press release about buying the rights.
Fabulous! I’m so excited. It looks brilliant. HBO has such high production values and with GRRM onset, it should be quite faithful.
I think RobM has stated elsewhere that GRRM has figured out some knot that had him stalled on the next book and is working away. It should be coming soon, I believe. Whew. That promise has renewed my interest in the series.
I certainly hope this is a big hit and goes several seasons, and that HBO promotes the heck out of it.
Regarding UK transmission:
The first official word was that the show would air on Sky Atlantic (a new channel available to basic Sky subscribers) in April. However, Sky Atlantic seems to have been delayed slightly and we’re now hearing it might not air until June. Which would be a fatal mistake, in my view, unless they don’t care about the number of viewers they lose through illegal downloads.
@@@@@ 7: Martin has less than five chapters to complete on ADWD. The biggest problem seems to be ensuring it all fits into the page count (the book is currently slightly longer than A STORM OF SWORDS, which was already pushing the limits of what Bantam could publish in one volume).
I always thought the actor playing Robb looked how I pictured him but not in this still. Looks like Guy Pearce here.
April! When they said “2011”, I figured it would be fall/winter 2011 when new shows usually come out.
I only have to wait 4 months. It’s not quite as good as getting ADWD, but it’s close.
I will not read those books. Not in a house, not with a mouse. I will not watch the HBO show, I will not watch it here or there there. I will not watch it anywhere.
The Targaryen scenes are making me cringe. Why the ugly wigs? Why the pastel colors? Why the excessive fluttering eyelashes, princess? The rest looks pretty good!
It certainly is looking fantastic. I hope it does well enough for them to continue on to several more seasons.
