A solemn goodbye to Steve Jobs. Our thoughts are with his family and those closest to him. Tor.com, along with so many others, benefits from his vision daily as we hopscotch seamlessly through our Mac laptops, desktops, and iPhones. The spaces between work, culture, and play have become so easily and intuitively navigated by his achievements. Thank you, Steve Jobs.

"It is shocking to find how many people do not believe they can learn, and how many more believe learning to be difficult.”
Frank Herbert, Dune
Amen. He made it easy to be creative. For that, we can not thank him enough.
As someone old enough to have worked with an Apple II in college, and can remember using teletypes, punched paper tape, and Hollerith cards, I can vouch for the amazing effect this man has had. Visionary, showman, engineer; we shall not see his like again…
A friend posted on FB that we look forward to some innovative wing-and-halo redesigns in the near future. But let’s remember that Steve Jobs always had a larger vision than we could have anticipated. I can only say that I look forward to his announcing iGod…
I mouse through everyday trying to make the world a better place on devices inspired by one man who tried to build a more seemless world by playing music through a phone and making art on a pad that originated in a garage in CA. I hope we can be as insirational. Jobs 5:12
Indeed Irene, the arts have greatly benefitted from his vision. I could not have made the movies and illustrations I have worked on over the years as quickly and easily without that vision; if at all. I am lucky enough to have been there in the beginning having grown up in Cupertino, and met him when he came to my 4th grade class 30 years ago to teach us how to take apart his Apple // computer. I never expected to see his end far too soon…
Yes, thank you Steve. Quite sad.
