Every year those with a membership to the Hugos are rewarded with pretty amazing Voter Packet containing the various nominees in each category (excluding Best Dramatic Presentation); the packet includes 5 complete novels and a ton of other awesome prose.

That’s over $300 worth of science fiction and fantasy (at minimum), in PDF form, for the most part (there are some epub files, as well), for a voting membership that costs $50.

Visit Chicon 7, this year’s World Con for more information on Hugo voting memberships, the packet, and the awards.

This release includes all of the fiction categories (Novel, Novella, Novelette, Short Story and John W. Campbell Award) plus Best Professional Artist; with will the remaining categories to be added over the next few days. (The Best Fancast nominees are not included in the download files but are already freely available online, with a separate page here.)

Click here for further info, and to register and receive a packet.

FYI, folks – of the novels, currently only Tor’s “Among Others” is available in anything other than PDF.
(well done Tor! A hi-five to your sensible PR dept from me!)

Note, by the way, that the Voter Packet is not guaranteed and has been happening only for the past few years. Each year’s Worldcon has to start over from scratch with getting the permissions to distribute the voter packet, and there’s no guarantee that any given work will appear in the packet, since it’s up to the owner of the rights to that work to determine whether it’s included or not.

How is the packet delivered? A zip file? or someother download?

:Each group (Novel, Novella, …) is in a zip file. Then, each book( story, etc) is in a directory with a selection of formats (sometimes only pdf).
Most readers can read epub.
