Known for his pioneering comic book art, Joe Kubert has passed away at 85. A contributor to the golden age of comics, specifically working on Hawkman, TarzanFax from Sarajevo, and moreKubert was also known for his extensive work as a teacher, founding the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon & Graphic Art in 1976.

Kubert’s sons Adam and Andy have followed in their father’s footsteps and have recently worked on Before Watchmen: Nite Owl. DC comics is set to publish the last Kubert comic in October called Joe Kubert Presents.

We salute Joe and his contributions to comics fans everywhere.

Steve Leiber has a wonderful and touching rememberance, here.

NB: You have a typo there: his sons Adam and Andy, not Adam and Any.

I’m really sad to hear of his passing. He was one of the greats, with strong, good art throughout his career. He really retained his abilities, right up till now. I first noticed him on the cover of All-Star Squardron #2. It really popped and grabbed my attention. He will be greatly missed.
