Makes much more sense in light of SR. Its just a pity that the scar/amulet details faded into a patch of vest during the process. But, as the artist says…
“Something to let the astute know that this isn’t so much a scene as it

Just noticed aswell in the artists other drawings that the medalion is a fox i thought it was a round disc with a fox head imprinted on it! as elayne makes ones with a rose imprinted for her personal guard!

Mat Cauthon is the best character in Fantasy world I hope some good author continue the series with him as him as the Protagonist
