Orbit Books has announced that they have acquired a third trilogy to James S. A. Corey’s Expanse series of sci-fi books! The announcement drops on the release date of the new fourth book in the series, Cibola Burn.

The already announced books five and six are scheduled to be released in 2015 and 2016, and now books seven through nine will join them in 2017, 2018, and 2019! Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham, the authors who comprise the James S. A. Corey pen name, are understandably excited. From the Orbit Books press release: “We always knew this was an ambitious project, and we’re very pleased that we’re going to have enough room to tell the whole story.”

Whoa. Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, starting in 2011 and ending in 2019, will have turned out a book per year, not to mention their other projects/books. That is pretty impressive. They’ve both worked with GRRM in the past, so I guess it’s safe to say that his work mode did not rub off on them…

Just finished Caliban’s War and it was just as good as Leviathan. If the rest of the series stays at this quality then this will be a very underappreciated story.

This has pretty much diminished my desire to keep reading the series. Book 3 felt rather filler-ish as it was, and now it looks like the story will keep getting stretched out and diluted in the future.

Whoa! I have just lost interest in reading anymore. I loved the series but had noticed that they seemed to be having a problem wrapping it up. Six books is enough. I simply don’t have the patience to wait another four or five years to come to a conclusion. After Game of Thrones and other such interminable series I have lost patience/

Just finished Nemesis Games and to all of you folk that have given up on the series – your loss.  Definitely the most exciting book of the series so far, and one heck of a set up for the next book.  Holy crap, freaking awesome to say the least.

*Possible spoilers*

I actually really appreciated nemesis games as a chance to flesh out all of the characters. You get to know all of them a lot better and if it comes to it, miss them if they if any of them die in the coming books. I already liked the characters, but now I feel like I know them. I’m gonna cry if Amos dies lol. He is such a badass.
