In this episode of Rocket Talk, Justin Landon invites Joe Abercrombie on at 6 AM to discuss his new book, Half a King. The conversation goes far afield touching the World Cup, onomatopoeia, the First Law Trilogy, and whether or not Justin is creeping out the author with his reread. Abercrombie also tells Justin he is wrong on the Internet. This is not a surprise.

Great interview Justin! Thanks for the early start. :) Really can’t wait to read Half a King.
Any chance of a podcast focused on KJ Parker? I doubt you could get the mysterious woman herself, but the likes of Mr. Shurin from Pornokitsch is a big fan and would be a fun guest to drum up some interest for what – I feel – is a seriously underread author in modern fantasy. Could be a good one for fans of the GrrrrrM. ;-)
It would also be nice to see more interviews like this one, maybe with the likes of Kate Elliott, Kameron Hurley, Trudi Canavan?
Also perhaps a bit of focus on some newer authors who deserve a push, like Snorri Kristjansson, Charlie Human, Jen Williams, Richard Ford, Peter Higgins…?
Mark Charan Newton, Lavie Tidhar, Robert Jackson Bennett, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Claire North, Nicola Griffith, Nick Harkaway, Frances Hardinge, Steven Erikson, Myke Cole, N.K. Jemisin, Karen Miller, Lauren Beukes…
The list goes on and on and interviews done by a good interviewer are great…
Can I “like” all of the above?
KJ Parker turned down my request for an interview on Rocket Talk, which led to my print interview with Parker on my own site. Alas. I’ll consider a KJ Parker appreciation episode at some point. Maybe when SAVAGES starts getting talked about.
As for the rest, some of those folks are already booked (Like Kate Elliott and Nora Jemisin and Kameron Hurley). I’m sure we’ll be having everyone on eventually. Alas, one episode a week makes it tough to get to everyone. Unless Irene wants to go to two a week! haha
Didn’t realize Joe Abercrombie and Tim Minchin were the same person..
(they sound alike, is what I’m saying)
