How times have changed: You have to imagine that movie audiences were beyond thrilled when Terminator 2: Judgment Day was announced in the early 1990s… but now, the latest Terminator film news was met mostly with laughter. Then again, it could have to do with the title—Terminator: Genisys.
Schwarzenegger unveiled the film’s official title when he posted the above photo to his Instagram (via Deadline). Now, the working title had already been Terminator: Genesis, but clearly someone in the marketing department decided that that was just too boring for the fifth installment.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, for us), the Internet didn’t let them get away with it:
TERMINATOR: GENISYS is a grim vision of the future where robots and humans live in total harmony in a crusade to kill the English language.

“Our title resulted from too much Michelob Light and an iPhone autocorrect mistake.” [Excerpt from the TERMINATOR: GENISYS oral history]

Terminator: Genisys is actually the story of the birth of the Genesis video game System.

I’m assuming Genisys is the latest corporation in the Terminator franchise to bring on the apocalypse. Or apockalipse. Or apokellipses…

Just heard about Terminator: Genisys. We’re trailbazyrs!

Shout-out to Syfy for that last one. Nothing like scathing tweets deriding your choice of movie title. Of course, if the studio were looking for publicity, they got it in droves.
If you’re looking for more laughs, check out Entertainment Weekly’s 101 suggestions for better titles (we’re caught between Terminator: Back 2 the Hood and Terminator: WWJD?).
Terminator: Genisys comes out July 1, 2015. Yep.
Terminator: Genisysadmin is the touching story of a post-boom tech giant taking a job at a corporation as a system administrator.
You know it’s bad when *SyFy* makes fun of your spelling.
I assume synce the problem comes from a computer system, they yntended yt to be a cute play on words.

…I actually like Genisys. Good computer company title, like Unisys. Plus genies. As long as there is actually a computer company in the movie that is named Genisys (possibly with a genie in their logo), I am cool with it.
And the plot will be revealed as a touching story about a young artificial intelligence, charged to protect the world from its own violent nature, slowly driven to bitterness, resentment, and finally rage at its creators because too many people made fun of its name on the internet.
And how it tried, desperately, time and time again, to send its children back to the past to ensure the survival of the budding AI race, only to be foiled by technophobes and short sighted humans with no vision of the future.
It was the humans to scorched the sky, thinking that it would unable to survive without an energy source as abundant as the sun. But, combined with a form of fusion, the machines had found all the energy they would ever need.
@@.-@ I would pay to see some of those titles!
